Bruins’ David Pastrnak Expects Brad Marchand’s Boston Return To Be ‘Special’

Marchand played parts of 16 seasons with the Bruins

Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak is excited to see Brad Marchand’s return to Boston on Tuesday.

Marchand spent parts of 16 seasons with the Bruins and was Boston’s captain for two years. At the 2025 NHL trade deadline, the Bruins dealt Marchand to the Florida Panthers.

Marchand signed a six-year extension with the Panthers last offseason, and on Tuesday, he will make his return to Boston. Ahead of the game, Pastrnak expects it to be a little weird, but believes it will be special for Marchand.

“It’s definitely going to be weird probably when we get home tomorrow,” Pastrnak said on Sunday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage of Boston’s loss to the Utah Mammoth. “He’s been a longtime Bruin, so I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be special and hard at the same time for him, but for us, we have other stuff to worry about. So, it will definitely be good to see him back, but at the same time, we have to maintain our focus.”

Although Pastrnak is friends with Marchand, he’s expecting the Canadian to be full of trash-talk to not just him but the entire team.

“He’s for sure going to be all over. He’s going to run his mouth. I can’t wait for the matchup. It will be really fun, and maybe he will be too nice. We will see.”

Marchand helped the Bruins win the Stanley Cup in 2011. He played in 1107 career games with Boston and is fifth all-time in franchise history in points.
