The Bruins host Marchand and the Panthers on Tuesday
Brad Marchand is eager to make his return to Boston and play in front of the fans.
Marchand was the Bruins captain for two seasons and played for the organization for parts of 16 years. He was a fan-favorite, and on Tuesday, Marchand and the Florida Panthers will play the Bruins in Boston.
It will be Marchand’s first game back at TD Garden since being traded. Ahead of his return, a reporter asked Marchand about the best part of the city, and he responded quickly.
“The fans, for sure,” Marchand said to reporters on Monday. “I mean, hockey-wise, the city is incredible. I’ve lived in a bunch of different areas around here, and the city’s incredible, but the fans make it awesome. They’re just very unique. Some of the stories and things that I’ve seen fans do, and a lot of them aren’t PG-rated, in like playoff runs and stuff like that, it’s so special, and I think so unique to this area.”
Marchand said it was the little gestures, like something written on his coffee cup to show some positivity, which is what he loved about Bruins fans.
“They bleed black and gold, and that’s part of why I think there’s so much pressure on teams to have success, and why they focus on it so much,” Marchand added. “I mean, you can’t slip. You guys see it. You’re all here every day.
“You don’t have the ability to slip in the city or you’re going to hear about it. We wanted to produce and be good for the fans and live up to that reputation. So, it makes it special to play here.”
Marchand is fifth all-time in franchise history in points with 976.
