Michael Jordan Will Debut New Series During Halftime Of Thunder-Rockets

MJ is stepping into the spotlight again.

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan will be contributing to NBC’s NBA coverage during the 2025-26 season, and one element of MJ’s offerings will be a series entitled, “MJ: Insights to Excellence”, which will debut on Tuesday night during halftime of the Oklahoma City Thunder-Houston Rockets game, the first matchup on the NBA calendar.

Jordan’s series will reportedly feature sit-down interviews in which the GOAT is in conversation with Mike Tirico, presumably covering topics related to Jordan’s philosophies.

Jordan remains a minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets (although he sold his majority stake in 2023), but on the whole, MJ hasn’t been that accessible as an NBA voice since retiring for the final time in 2003.

It’s always been on brand for Jordan to somewhat remain in the shadows (from a PR perspective) while his legacy and aura continue to benefit from the mystery.

That’s what makes MJ’s involvement with NBC such an exciting moment for NBA fans. We rarely get to hear Jordan’s take on things, especially when it comes to the modern game.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Whenever Jordan does sit or stand in front of a mic, he tends to be just as iconic as he was during his playing days. MJ was fantastic as a contributor to the Last Dance documentary. He also gave one of the best speeches in sports history when he delivered a stunning eulogy for the late Kobe Bryant.

Most of the time, anything Jordan touches becomes imbued with some sort of magic (the Bobcats/Hornets being an exception).

Hopefully, “Insights to Excellence” delivers.
