Red Sox President Has Encouraging Message For Fans About Team’s Exciting Future

The Boston Red Sox got their first taste of the postseason since 2021 last week. While they lost to the New York Yankees in the AL Wild Card Round, Red Sox President and CEO Sam Kennedy believes the team has a bright future and is committed to getting back to October.

“I think the next decade is very exciting for our organization,” Kennedy told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. “We’ll do everything we can to continue to position ourselves for October. Our fans deserve this so much.”

The future certainly appears bright for Boston after its best season since 2021. The Red Sox are loaded with young talent, much of which is under team control for the foreseeable future. With young stars like Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Cedanne Rafaela, Carlos Narvaez, Garrett Crochet and others, Boston is trending up and should only get better.

Kennedy also hinted that the front office is going to keep its foot on the gas and stay aggressive this offseason. The Red Sox made several splashy additions last winter in Crochet, Alex Bregman and Aroldis Chapman, pushing them over the luxury tax for the first time since 2022. It paid off, as they improved from 81 wins to 89 wins.

While making the playoffs is nice, Boston’s goal should be to win the World Series, and it sounds like ownership is committed to that and willing to keep investing in the roster.

Kennedy also told Speier that the front office wants to focus more on bringing in players who want to play for the Red Sox specifically (such as Bregman), which it hasn’t emphasized enough in the past. Playing in Boston isn’t for everyone, and the environment is a big reason why several high-profile free agents (Carl Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, David Price, etc.) didn’t pan out as hoped.

After spinning their wheels for the last few seasons, the Red Sox are finally moving in the right direction. Fortunately, it seems like Kennedy & Co. want to keep building on that and do what it takes to win a championship.
