Safety Joins Ex-Patriots Teammate On Texans Active Roster

The former seventh-round pick spent three seasons with the Patriots

It was reported on Friday that former New England Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown was being signed to the Houston Texans active roster ahead of the group’s Week 5 game vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

The Texans announced on Saturday that two defenders would be joining him, including safety Jalen Mills.

Brown and Mills spent three seasons as teammates with the Patriots from 2021 to 2023.

The latter was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft and played five years with the group.

Mills was a starter on the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII-winning squad, helping the group upset New England with a team-high nine tackles and two passes defended.

He signed with the Patriots in March 2021 and finished his New England career with 13 passes defended and two interceptions (both during the 2022 campaign) across 43 games covering three seasons.

Mills played nine games with the New York Jets last season, posting six passes defended and one interception, and hasn’t suited up yet this fall.
