Caitlin Clarke Played Role In Stephen Curry-Under Armour Divorce

Curry and UA are no more.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has ended his partnership with Under Armour, and reports indicate that WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark played a part in the separation.

According to Sports Business Journal, Curry’s decision to leave Under Armour stemmed from his frustration with the brand’s lack of sales and underinvestment. Curry was also reportedly let down by Under Armour’s failed attempt to recruit Clark to the brand, ultimately losing Clark to Nike.

Curry signed with Under Armour during the 2013 offseason, meaning their partnership lasted more than a decade. The brand saw its basketball department grow exponentially with Curry as an ambassador.

Curry has been taking full advantage of his “shoe freedom” since the split from Under Armour, rocking a variety of different kicks before, during, and after games.

On Monday night, Curry played in WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu’s signature ‘Nike Sabrina 3’ sneaker, and Ionescu happened to be in the arena to watch the game.

Whichever brand signs Curry next is still getting a player at or near the peak of his powers, despite his 37 years. Curry is averaging 28.8 points per game for the Warriors in his 17th NBA season.

The four-time NBA champ and two-time MVP is still playing at the highest level. Meanwhile, the Warriors are 10-9 to start the season and fans are wondering whether Golden State is young and energetic enough to be considering a contender in the Western Conference.

Golden State’s core outside of Steph is built around Draymond Green (35), Jimmy Butler (36), and Al Horford (39).

The Warriors will face a big test on Wednesday night when they host Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets.
