Bills’ Sean McDermott Makes Feelings Clear On Losing AFC East To Patriots

'It doesn't make me happy'

The Buffalo Bills are no longer the Kings of the AFC East.

Buffalo suffered a 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and with the loss, the New England Patriots officially clinched the AFC East. The Bills had won the division for the past five seasons, and head coach Sean McDermott is disappointed the team lost the division.

“It doesn’t make me happy,” McDermott said postgame on Sunday about not winning the division. “We focus on getting better. That’s the piece we can control.”

McDermott has preached how important it is to win the division, so it’s disappointing news to see the Patriots take control of the AFC East.

“It is important that we win the division,” McDermott added. “It’s something we’ve taken a lot of pride in, that’s obviously not in our control anymore. So we’ve got to focus on, as I said before, here’s where we’re at. What are we going to do to sure things up? What are we going to do to learn from this game?”

Josh Allen, meanwhile, was also frustrated to see the Patriots clinch the AFC East.

“That sucks, not giving ourselves a chance,” Allen said postgame. “We’re still in the playoffs, and that’s the main thing.”

The Bills will now have to go on the road throughout the playoffs, while the Patriots have guaranteed at least one home playoff game and possibly more.

Buffalo will host the New York Jets in Week 18, while New England will host the Miami Dolphins as the Patriots still have a chance of clinching the No. 1 seed.
