Bo Bichette Predicted To Betray Blue Jays, Join Yankees Amid Red Sox Pursuit

Bichette would be a great fit for the Yankees

The Boston Red Sox are still looking for position players on the open market, including Toronto Blue Jays superstar Bo Bichette, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.

Bichette is one of the best free agents on the open market and would be a great addition to the Red Sox. His defense at shortstop is not great, but the Red Sox could slot him in at second base. However, Bichette will not be easy to sign.

He figures to have plenty of suitors and will cost plenty. ESPN’s David Schoenfield predicted he would sign with an American League East team, but not the Red Sox. He predicted Biochette would join the New York Yankees.

“We’re trying to read the tea leaves here and those Jazz Chisholm Jr. trade rumors keep popping up,” wrote Schoenfield on Wednesday. “Perhaps the Yankees are trying to clear space for a new infielder? Bichette could either provide another option at shortstop to Anthony Volpe, who struggled at the plate in 2025 and saw his defense regress as well, or play second, with Jose Caballero still around to back up both positions.”

Bichette would be a great addition to any contender. He is a two-time All-Star and has led the American League in hits twice in his career. However, his power numbers could see a surge at Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium.

Bichette, a right-handed hitter, sees 34.7% of his batted balls go to the opposite field, and 63.4% of those hit in the air. He could thrive playing half of his games with the shallow right-field wall at Yankee Stadium or the pesky pole at Fenway Park.

One problem the Red Sox could have with Bichette that the Yankees may not is their current infield situation. The Red Sox are reportedly still pursuing Alex Bregman as well, and may already be pressed to find playing time for Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell.

Adding Bichette to the mix could further complicate an already crowded infield. However, seeing him join the Yankees would surely be an uneasy feeling, seeing another American League East team get better, even if it makes the Blue Jays slightly worse.
