'A game we should’ve definitely had'
The Boston Bruins know they let a game slip through their hands on Saturday.
Boston suffered a 5-4 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks in a game the Bruins led 1-0 and 3-2. Yet, Vancouver kept on fighting and was able to score the lone goal of the shootout in the seventh round to get the win.
Following the loss, Bruins forward Mark Kastelic said that it was a game the team should’ve won.
“I think we just take it personally upon ourselves to just attack the game with the right mindset and kind of just try to put this one behind us as quickly as we can and get our bodies and minds right for tomorrow,” Kastelic said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame show. “But definitely disappointing. This felt like a game we should’ve definitely had.”
It was Boston’s second-straight loss as the Bruins are outside of a playoff spot.
Luckily, the Bruins have a chance to right the ship as Boston is set to host the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, and Pavel Zacha expects the team to come out strong.
“We have to really learn from it because these are important games right before the break,” Zacha said. “Another chance to win tomorrow.”
The Bruins will host the Senators on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. Pregame coverage on NESN begins at 6 p.m. ET.
Boston enters play with a record of 20-15-1 and remains firmly in the playoff race.
