Bruins’ David Pastrnak Says It’s ‘Fun’ To See Morgan Geekie’s Offensive Outburst

'It’s not easy to score in this league'

The Boston Bruins have been a surprise team this season, and forward Morgan Geekie is a big reason why.

Geekie signed a six-year, $33 million extension with the Bruins the day before free agency opened up. It was a massive move, and in the first year of the deal, it already appears to be a steal.

On Tuesday, Geekie scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the season, and David Pastrnak has nothing but praise for the star forward.

“It’s fun to watch,” Pastrnak said about Geekie on Tuesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “It is always so easy to cheer for as nice a guy as he is.

“Fun to see him get better every day, and he’s been proving it the whole year this year. It’s not easy to score in this league, not easy to find open ice, and he’s done that.”

Geekie is second in the NHL in goals and is four back of Nathan MacKinnon. It’s been a stellar beginning of the season for Geekie, and he said he’s just trying to play his game and isn’t forcing anything, which has led to the success.

“Obviously, I take pride in (being an offensive leader) a lot,” Geekie said. “Not something that I put a lot of stress on. We’re getting goals from everybody.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

“I think up and down the lineup, we’re kind of built like that, and we’re able to rely on different guys. But for me, just go out there, play hard on both ends of the rink and try to take advantage of special teams.”

Geekie’s two-goal game helped lead the Bruins to a 4-1 win over the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday.

Boston will return to the ice at home on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers.
