Celtics Duo Makes Franchise History With Incredible Scoring Run

They've been unstoppable lately

With Jayson Tatum out, the Boston Celtics have been getting the bulk of their scoring from Jaylen Brown and Payton Pritchard this season. Brown is averaging a career-high 29 points per game, while Pritchard is also averaging a career-high 17.1 points per game.

They’ve both been red-hot lately, too, carrying the Celtics to seven wins in their last nine games. Brown’s averaged 30.8 points per game during that span, while Pritchard’s averaged 20.6 points per game.

They’ve been even better over the last few days. On Saturday, Brown racked up 41 points in a narrow road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The following day, Pritchard dropped 42 in a stunning road win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Not to be outdone, Brown poured in 42 points against the New York Knicks on Tuesday, leading Boston to another victory.

That marks the first time in Celtics history that the team has had a 40-point scorer in three straight games.

With Brown sidelined by an illness for tonight’s road game against the Washington Wizards, it’s up to Pritchard or somebody else to extend the streak. The Wizards have the worst record in the Eastern Conference and the worst defensive rating in basketball, so scoring shouldn’t be an issue for Boston, even without Brown and Tatum.

The Celtics scored 136 points the last time they faced Washington a month ago, with 35 of those points coming from Brown. Somebody else will need to step up in his absence, with Pritchard and Derrick White the obvious candidates.
