Celtics Legend Robert Parish Names His Top Five NBA Coaches Of All Time

The Chief's top five coaches ...

Boston Celtics legend Robert Parish has delighted fans recently by sharing some of his “top five” NBA lists on X.

In recent weeks, Parish has revealed his top five teammates and his top five point guards of all time in separate posts.

The recent “top five” list shared by The Chief was his top five NBA coaches of all time.

Parish’s list was comprised of five legends: Red Auerbach, Chuck Daly, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and Gregg Popovich.

Auerbach retired from coaching long before Parish joined the Celtics, but Red was the guy pulling the strings in Boston’s front office when the team traded for Parish in 1980.

Most people forget (or never knew) that Parish actually played for Phil Jackson and the Chicago Bulls during the 1996-97 NBA season. It was Parish’s final season, and he won his fourth championship ring alongside Michael Jordan.

Parish enjoyed a remarkable NBA career from 1976 to 1997. Drafted eighth overall by the Golden State Warriors, he spent his first four seasons there, averaging solid double-doubles before the aforementioned 1980 trade to the Celtics transformed his legacy.

Teaming with Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, Parish anchored the frontcourt, securing three championships in 1981, 1984, and 1986. He later joined the Charlotte Hornets and Bulls.

A nine-time All-Star and Hall of Famer since 2003, The Chief’s longevity and defense defined an era.
