How Trent Frederic Feels About ‘Emotional’ Return To Boston

"It's good to be back."

The Boston Bruins are set to host the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night at TD Garden.

The matchup represents the first time that the Bruins’ 2016 first-round draft pick, Trent Frederic, will play in Boston as a visitor.

Frederic was asked how it feels to return to Boston after the Oilers’ morning skate.

“Good, I walked around Southie last night,” Frederic said. “It was nice. Got some dinner with the guys, it’s good to be back.”

He joked about his first time in the visiting locker room and reflected on the moment he found out the “shocking” news that he was traded.

Frederic was asked about the emotions that go into such a return, which former B’s Brad Marchand and Brandon Carlo did earlier this season.

“I think I was the first one to go,” Frederic said. “I could see how it would be emotional; a lot of those guys spent a lot of time here. A lot of good friends here, a lot of good people. So I guess when you come back here, it kind of brings all of that out.”

Frederic spent nearly a decade in the Bruins system, becoming a full-time member of the lineup during the 2020-21 season.

He recorded a 40-point season in the 2023-24 campaign and was traded this past season amid a flurry of deadline moves.

Now on the Oilers, Frederic is struggling. He has a measly three points in 34 games played this season.
