Brown is making waves with his impressive scoring
The Boston Celtics picked up their fifth-straight win on Sunday afternoon, as they handed the Toronto Raptors a 121-113 defeat. Per usual, Jaylen Brown led the way for his team, and in the process, he joined an exclusive group of Celtics scorers thanks to his latest big game.
In what is becoming a more and more common performance for him, Brown scored 30 points for Boston while also hauling in eight rebounds and dishing out five assists. Brown has been on a heater as of late, particularly when it comes to scoring on offense.
This was Brown’s sixth 30-point outing in the past seven games, and his 13th so far this season. With this game, Brown surpassed Jayson Tatum on an impressive scoring list for the Celtics, as he now has the second-most 30-point games in the first 24 games of any season in Boston’s storied history, with only John Havlicek coming in ahead of him.
With Tatum recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, Brown has had to shoulder a bigger workload on offense, and to this point, he has done a phenomenal job. Brown is averaging 29.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, which are MVP-caliber numbers.
We’ve known Brown is a superstar for a while now, but when he has to, he can take his game to a whole new level. Boston is winning without Tatum, which makes the prospect of his potential return later in the season a very scary thought for the rest of the league.
For now, Brown is going to have to continue leading the charge for the C’s on a nightly basis, which is something he has proven to be capable of doing. Boston will be back in action on Thursday night, where a matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks awaits.
