Jaylen Brown Made Celtics History During December To Remember

Brown set several team records in December

Jaylen Brown is having a special season for the Boston Celtics, taking his game to new heights with Jayson Tatum sidelined. He’s only gotten better, too, authoring one of the best months in team history during December.

Brown played 10 games this month, scoring at least 30 points in nine of them and tying Larry Bird’s franchise record for most consecutive 30-point games. In his one game with fewer than 30 points, he still had 23 points and 10 assists, leading the Celtics to a 10-point road win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.

For December, Brown averaged 31.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists with 54/43/79 shooting splits, helping Boston go 7-3 when he was on the court. He won NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice during the month and will likely win Player of the Month as well.

Brown’s 31.7 points per game was a Celtics record for December, beating out Bird, Isaiah Thomas, Tatum and John Havlicek. He also narrowly missed becoming the second player in team history to average 32 points per game, a 52% field goal percentage and a 40% 3-point percentage for an entire month — something only Tatum has done.

Brown’s historic December continued his strong finish to November. He’s either scored at least 30 points or recorded a double-double in 14 straight games, bolstering his MVP case while helping Boston climb to third place in the Eastern Conference.

He’ll look to pick up where he left off in January when the Celtics kick off 2026 against the Sacramento Kings on New Year’s Day.
