Jaylen Brown Makes Bold Championship Prediction For Surging Celtics

Brown's got his eye on another ring

The Boston Celtics have 18 championship banners hanging from the rafters at TD Garden — an NBA record. Most of those banners were won decades ago, however, as the Celtics have won only two titles since 1986.

Jaylen Brown helped raise one of them in 2024, winning Eastern Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP on one of the greatest teams in franchise history.

Boston’s roster looks considerably different now after losing Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Luke Kornet over the summer. Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum is currently sidelined by an Achilles injury.

Despite all of those losses, however, the Celtics have remained surprisingly competitive this year. They enter Friday’s game against the Indiana Pacers with an 18-11 record and the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

Brown’s played a huge role in their success this year, performing at an MVP level while Boston awaits Tatum’s return. After Monday’s comeback win over the Pacers, he hinted that the Celtics’ next championship banner could be coming soon.

“I’m a champion. You can never take that away. They can say anything they want. You can never say that I’m not a champion,” Brown said on his Twitch livestream. “Banner 18. Banner 19 is in the works.”

If Tatum comes back strong and Brown continues his career year, there’s no reason Boston can’t make a championship run in a wide-open Eastern Conference. Even if it doesn’t happen this year, Brown and Tatum are both under 30, so there’s still plenty of time for them to win another ring in the near future.
