Jaylen Brown Reveals Motivating Factor In 42-Point Explosion Vs. Knicks

Brown torched New York, helping Boston earn a big win

The Boston Celtics earned their seventh win in their past nine games on Tuesday night with a 123-117 victory over the New York Knicks. As has typically been the case this season, superstar forward Jaylen Brown played a major role in the team’s ability to come out on top.

Brown has taken his game to another level so far this season, and that continued against the Knicks. In a game-high 40 minutes, Brown scored 42 points, while also hauling in four rebounds and dishing out four assists.

After a bit of a slow start, Brown turned up the heat in the second and third quarters to help the C’s build up a double-digit lead. And while it got a bit too close for comfort in the fourth quarter, Boston managed to hold on, with Brown revealing after the game that he was extra motivated to take down New York for one big reason.

“It was a great win, I’ll take everyone we can get,” Brown said after the game. “Obviously, the team that knocked you out in the playoffs, it’s even sweeter to come back, but it’s just one game, so we just gotta focus on the next one now, and that’s what’s most important.”

The Celtics and Knicks obviously have a storied history already, but last season’s playoff series has upped the stakes this year, even if Boston is playing with a significantly less-talented roster. As the team has proven lately, it still can go toe-to-toe with the top squads in the league on any given night.

With Brown playing at an MVP-caliber level right now, it feels like anything is possible for the C’s. The team will look to continue its winning ways on Thursday night when it squares off against the three-win Washington Wizards.
