'You never want to get pulled'
The Boston Bruins suffered a 6-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators at home on Sunday.
Boston struggled out of the gates, as the Senators led 3-0 in the first period. After the Senators scored their fifth goal in the second period, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm pulled Joonas Korpisalo.
Korpisalo finished the game making 12 saves on 17 shots, and he wasn’t happy with his game.
“You never want to get pulled,” Korpisalo said on Sunday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Doesn’t matter what happens. Today was one of those days, and obviously I’m not happy (with) how I played.
“We’ve just got to get back to our identity. Battle hard, play together. Bring back the energy. I don’t know if we had it today.”
It was a disappointing performance from Korpisalo and the Bruins, as Boston was looking to get back on track after back-to-back losses.
Bruins head coach, Marco Sturm, meanwhile, was also disappointed with the team’s start.
“It was disappointing right from the start,” Sturm said. “They came out flying, they came out skating. They came out with more energy and outworked us.”
Boston fell to 20-16-1 with the loss and is outside of a playoff spot.
The Bruins will return to the ice on Tuesday at home against the Montreal Canadiens.
