Perkins' latest take will surely catch fans' attention
The Boston Celtics are on a roll, having won four straight games to push their record to 14-9. With their win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, the C’s helped the Houston Rockets move up to the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. After the Rockets beat the Phoenix Suns, former C’s center Kendrick Perkins issued a bold Kevin Durant take.
In his first season with the Rockets, Durant has remained as consistent as ever. In 18 games, Durant is averaging 25.2 points, five rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 50.2% from the field.
Early on against the Suns, Durant crossed the 31,000-point threshold for his career, becoming only the eighth player in the history of the NBA to reach that mark. When discussing the greatest scorers of all-time, Perkins surprisingly declared that Durant is at the top of the list for him.
“Imma tell you, the greatest scorer I’ve ever f***ing seen in my life is Kevin Durant. I don’t give a damn,” Perkins said on “Road Trippin.”
For much of his career, Durant has been considered one of the most lethal scorers in the game. Durant can score at all three levels of the floor, and despite featuring a heavy diet of jumpers in his shot portfolio, he has hit over 50% of his shots from the field for 13 straight seasons now.
He may not end up reaching the heights of guys like LeBron James or Michael Jordan, but from a pure scoring perspective, Durant is among the best of the bunch. Whether or not he’s at the top of the list is up for debate, but it’s clear that, at the very least, Durant belongs in the conversation.
