He was an amazing player in 2023.
Saturday brought news that the Chicago White signed Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami to a two-year, $34 million deal, and within hours, further potential moves from Chicago surfaced on X, including one trade connecting the White Sox to the New York Mets.
According to USA Today’s MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the White Sox are interested in trading All-Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr.
“Next up for the Chicago White Sox after the Munetaka Murakami signing: They still would like to move CF Luis Robert for pitching depth and are engaged in talks with the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds,” Nightengale wrote.
Robert’s 2025 campaign with the White Sox proved challenging, marked by inconsistency and injury. He appeared in 110 games, batting .223 with 14 home runs, 53 RBI, and 33 stolen bases, posting a .661 OPS. A slow start gave way to a surge in June, where he slashed .293/ .364/ .677 with 11 homers, showing glimpses of his elite potential.
However, a hamstring injury sidelined Robert for the season’s final weeks in September. Despite the setbacks, Robert reduced his strikeout rate and reached a milestone by swiping his 100th career base in August.
Over six MLB seasons since debuting in 2020, the 28-year-old Cuban outfielder has compiled a .259 average, 102 home runs, 298 RBI, and 102 steals across 577 games. His 2023 breakout (38 homers and an All-Star nod) stands as his peak, though injuries have limited him in recent years, yielding just 14 long balls each in 2024 and 2025.
A Gold Glove winner in 2020 and Silver Slugger in 2023, Robert remains a dynamic talent blending power, speed, and defense.
