Stevenson scored the go-ahead touchdown for New England
The New England Patriots put together a furious rally in the fourth quarter to escape their Week 16 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens with a 28-24 victory. While Drake Maye was the conductor for the Pats yet again, it was Rhamondre Stevenson who scored the go-ahead touchdown for New England late.
With the Patriots facing an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter, Maye guided the Patriots to a pair of touchdowns, the second of which was scored by Stevenson. After K’Lavon Chaisson forced a fumble on the Ravens’ next drive, the Pats’ offense was able to put the game away with a pair of first downs.
The stakes were high in this game for both teams, and everybody knew it. If there was ever any doubt about how important this game was for New England, fans need to only watch Maye’s immediate reaction to Stevenson’s go-ahead touchdown.
“That’s how you do that s*** ‘Dre Day,” Maye said to Stevenson before turning his attention to an ailing Morgan Moses, praising him for gutting it out and continuing to man the team’s right tackle position.
Maye’s evolution as a leader during his second year in the NFL with the Patriots has been a key part of his growth, and it was on full display here. At only 23 years old, it feels like the sky’s the limit for Maye.
New England will be looking to keep up the positive momentum over its final two regular-season games, as it still has a lot of work to do. The Pats will look to earn their 13th win of the season when they take on the New York Jets in Week 17.
