Patriots Extend Classy Gesture To Ole Miss Ahead Of Sugar Bowl Clash With Georgia

The Rebels are looking for their second College Football Playoff win

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft lent a helping hand to the Ole Miss Rebels as they prepare to face Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday.

The Rebels took the Patriots’ team plane to New Orleans on Monday. The Patriots are among a select few NFL teams that own their own plane, and Kraft is generously allowing the Rebels team to make a grand entrance.

Former Patriots special teams coordinator and quarterback coach/offensive assistant Joe Judge is now serving as a senior analyst at Ole Miss.

Another coach on the Ole Miss staff with ties to the Patriots is Rebels offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., who is the son of Charlie Weis. Weis served as New England’s offensive coordinator from 2000 to 2004.

The Rebels secured a spot in the College Football Playoffs after finishing the season with an impressive 11-1 record. However, their head coach, Lane Kiffin, departed from Ole Miss at the conclusion of the regular season to take the same position at LSU.

Kiffin will not be coaching the Rebels during the playoffs, and Ole Miss announced that defensive coordinator Pete Golding will take over as the permanent head coach for the remainder of the season and into the next one.
