Patriots Predicted To Add Star Pass Rusher Who Could Fit Perfectly Alongside Harold Landry

'New England could use additional pass-rush help off the edge'

The Patriots are just a week away from preparing for their first playoff game since the 2021 season. While New England is eyeing a potential long postseason run, it’s never too early to think about players it might target in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Focus’s Dalton Wasserman published a mock draft on Monday, predicting that the Patriots would select Texas Tech edge rusher Romello Height with the 30th pick.

“New England could use additional pass-rush help off the edge,” Wasserman wrote. “Texas Tech’s Romello Height would be a strong fit alongside Harold Landry III next season. Height’s 92.8 PFF pass-rush grade ranks fifth among qualified FBS edge defenders entering the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. He has also recorded 58 pressures, eight sacks and three forced fumbles this season.”

There is a possibility that this upcoming draft could feature a handful of excellent pass-rushing prospects, and the Patriots would be wise to select one near the end of the first round.

Since New England is having a great season, it might want to consider trading for a star pass rusher to really take it over the top in the NFL next season.

It will be interesting to see how the Patriots add to their defensive end depth chart next season.
