Patriots Predicted To Draft Star Corner To Complement Christian Gonzalez

'He's a physical, sticky man-coverage corner'

Even though the Patriots will be playing meaningful football in the coming weeks, it’s never too early to start thinking about players who can help them out next season.

New England could strengthen its secondary, and The Draft Network’s Jaime Eisner predicted the Patriots will select Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“With the top edge rushers gone, the Patriots can focus on securing a long-term corner to complement Christian Gonzalez,” Eisner wrote on Sunday. “Avieon Terrell, the younger brother of A.J. Terrell, is an excellent pick. He’s a physical, sticky man-coverage corner who can step in right away. Terrell’s athleticism and playmaking instincts are impressive.”

Terrell played three seasons for the Tigers, recording three interceptions over the course of 39 games.

Although the Patriots are one of the top teams in the NFL, they do have some roster gaps since they weren’t able to upgrade the entire team during the most recent offseason.

It will be interesting to see which positions the Patriots target in free agency and through the NFL Draft. Adding a cornerback like Terrell could give the defense a significant boost for next season.
