Pirates Sign All-Star First Baseman Ryan O’Hearn To Two-Year Contract

O'Hearn to the Bucs!

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been making a concerted effort to put their money with their mouth is this offseason. That started with an offer to Kyle Schwarber weeks ago, and it continued with Pittsburgh’s trade for Brandon Lowe a few days ago.

Well, the Pirates were back to their aggressive ways this weeks, as they reportedly signed All-Star first baseman Ryan O’Hearn, per FanSided’s Robert Murray.

In 144 games in 2025, O’Hearn batted .281 with 17 home runs and 63 RBIs, earning his first All-Star selection while with the Baltimore Orioles. He was traded to the San Diego Padres on July 31. O’Hearn’s .803 OPS marked one of his strongest offensive seasons.

Over his eight-year career starting with a 2018 debut for the Kansas City Royals, O’Hearn has compiled a .252 average across 740 games, tallying 84 homers and 313 RBIs. Traded to Baltimore in 2023 for cash, he found consistency as a first baseman and occasional outfielder.
