Baltimore's defense will be shorthanded in Week 16
The New England Patriots may have lost in brutal fashion to the Buffalo Bills in Week 15, but they still have everything to play for this season. That starts in Week 16, where a primetime matchup against the Baltimore Ravens awaits.
After suffering a potentially catastrophic loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14, the Ravens bounced back on Sunday and handed the Cincinnati Bengals a shutout 24-0 defeat. It hasn’t been a perfect season for Baltimore, but this win proved that it still means business.
Along the way, though, the team lost star rookie linebacker Teddye Buchanan to injury. On Monday, reports seemed to confirm the Ravens’ worst fears, as the team believes that Buchanan suffered a torn ACL, which would cut his season short.
“Sources: The belief is that Ravens LB Teddye Buchanan, the team’s second-leading tackler, tore his ACL during Sunday’s win over the Bengals. Buchanan will undergo additional testing today to confirm the injury,” Adam Schefter of ESPN reported in a post on X.
A fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Buchanan quickly emerged as a starter for Baltimore, and he’s enjoyed a strong season, as he’s racked up 93 tackles, 0.5 sacks, one pass deflection and one fumble forced through 14 games. His absence will leave a huge hole for the Ravens to fill on defense throughout the rest of the year.
New England will certainly be focusing on itself before this game, but it looks like it won’t have to worry about Buchanan heading into this one. With this contest set to take place on Sunday Night Football, kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
