Troublesome Chris Paul Report Surfaces About Next Landing Spot

Is this going to end badly?

It’s been a sad NBA season for Chris Paul. What was supposed to turn into a feel-good runway to retirement with the Los Angeles Clippers turned disastrous when Paul clashed with Clippers players and staff, leading to his dismissal from the team on December 3.

Adding insult to injury, Paul hasn’t been able to latch on with another team since then, and a new report from NBA insider Jake Fischer doesn’t bode well.

Fischer revealed on Saturday that neither the Los Angeles Lakers nor the Houston Rockets are interested in adding Paul to their roster.

Paul told NBA insider Chris Haynes shortly after his dismissal from the Clips that he was “staying ready … I don’t (know) what’s next. I’m still scarred by it all. Still processing everything. But I’m staying ready.”

Through 16 games with the Clippers this season up to December 2, Paul averaged 2.9 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per contest, with shooting splits of 32.1 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three. His last appearance came in a loss to the Miami Heat on December 2, where he scored eight points.

Over his 21-year career, starting with being the No. 4 overall pick in the 2005 draft by New Orleans, Paul has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest point guards in league history. He suited up for the Hornets, Clippers (twice), Rockets, Thunder, Suns, Warriors, and Spurs, amassing averages of 16.8 points, 9.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. A 12-time All-Star and Rookie of the Year, he led the league in assists multiple times and reached the NBA Finals with Phoenix in 2021, though a championship eluded him.
