It's a local joint!
It’s bowl season, which means we have a lot of football to watch between Dec. 13 and Jan. 19! Ohio State, Utah, Georgia Southern, Army, Texas A&M — and just about everyone in between — will take part in a total of 47 games that will ultimately conclude with the 2026 CFP National Championship.
NESN has you covered with previews for each and every game — with our next contest bringing us to America’s Most Beloved Ballpark:
Matchup: UConn Huskies vs. Army Black Knights
Date: Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025
Kickoff: 2:15 p.m. ET
Stadium: Fenway Park — Boston, Mass.
TV: ESPN
The Fenway Bowl has become a local favorite, with Boston College and UConn taking home the last two iterations of the contest in 2023 and 2024.
It’s probably unsurprising to hear that these games are slugfests, with the lack of overall space and bad weather contributing to three straight low-scoring contests that have all gone under the betting total.
I’d be surprised if things change considering who will take place in the fourth annual iteration of the contest…
UConn Huskies
Conference: Independent
Head Coach: Gordon Sammis (Interim)
Record: 9–3
UConn is undergoing significant change, as head coach Jim Mora’s departure set up a mass exodus that includes opt outs from the likes of starting quarterback Joe Fagnano, offensive linemen Carsten Casady (774 snaps), Ben Murawski (773 snaps) and Brady Wayburn (430 snaps), cornerback Cam Chadwick (796 snaps) and linebacker Oumar Diomande (790 snaps).
Yikes!
The Huskies are coming off their best regular season performance (9-3) since 2007 (9-3), but can they withstand all those losses?
Army Black Knights
Conference: American
Head Coach: Jeff Monken
Record: 6-6
Army doesn’t do opt outs.
Jeff Monken’s club is coming off a bitter loss to rival Navy, but also boasts victories over Kansas State, Air Force and UTSA.
The Black Knights run the ball as effectively as ever, but they’ve also added an element in the passing game that was missing in prior seasons. It’s the same old story when you watch their games, however, as they control the clock and keep things in the middle of the field — because things don’t change that easily…
