Why Patriots Fans Should Root Hard For Bills To Beat Eagles

The Bills' division losses have put them behind the pack

The New England Patriots are guaranteed a top-two seed if they win their final two games. This Sunday, they travel to take on the 3-12 New York Jets, and next week, they will play host to the 6-9 Miami Dolphins, who likely will be starting a seventh-round draft pick at quarterback.

In a perfect world, the Los Angeles Chargers would beat the Denver Broncos in Week 18, and the Patriots could retake the AFC’s top seed.

But should the Chargers lose, the Patriots will be one Bills loss away from a third matchup with their bitter rivals.

Here’s why Patriots fans should be rooting hard for Buffalo in its Week 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. If Buffalo beats Philadelphia, it will technically still be in the running for the AFC East crown in Week 18.

By winning out, the Bills would finish the season 13-4 and secure the highest wild-card seed.

Conversely, if the Eagles beat the Bills, Buffalo would fall to 11-5 and stand to gain nothing from a Week 18 victory.

Although the Patriots have proven they can beat Buffalo, they likely aren’t looking forward to a first-round meeting with the Bills.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

But that’s not the reason New England wants Buffalo to win.

The real reason is that if the Bills secure a higher seed, the Chargers will be the Patriots’ draw in the playoffs.

In a field with Houston and Buffalo, Los Angeles is far and away the easiest draw.

The Texans have quietly won eight straight, whereas the Chargers have countless injuries across an offensive line that allowed five sacks to Houston on Saturday.

Should the Bills beat the Eagles, the Patriots will be in a win-win playoff scenario that either grants a first-round bye or an easier round one draw.
