Why Stefon Diggs Feels Patriots ‘Probably Needed’ Loss

'It's good for us'

Stefon Diggs and the New England Patriots felt the unfamiliar sting of a loss when the Buffalo Bills snapped their 10-game winning streak on Sunday.

New England suffered its first loss since Week 3 in a 35-31 home setback. Up 21-0 in the second quarter, the Patriots missed a chance to clinch the AFC East.

After the game, courtesy of CLNS Media, Diggs dismissed the notion that the Patriots forgot the feeling of losing before Sunday. However, the wide receiver also believes the adversity could help in the long run.

“It’s been a while since we lost, but I wouldn’t say we forgot (how to lose),” Diggs said. “But it’s definitely something, you never know. We probably needed it.”

Diggs believes they can glean valuable insights from the disappointing loss to his former team.

“I’m not gonna say it’s a lot of pressure, but you expect to win — as you should — each and every week,” Diggs said. “… It’s good for us. I kind of said it at the beginning of the year: Lessons. If you don’t learn nothing from it, then obviously you lost. But it’s a lesson for sure.”

The Patriots haven’t stumbled much during an 11-3 campaign, and they have yet to lose two consecutive games. Drake Maye also quickly emphasized the importance of not mentally carrying Sunday’s outcome into the new week.

Diggs and the Patriots will look to apply lessons from their Week 15 loss when they travel to play the Baltimore Ravens on “Sunday Night Football.”
