Alex Bregman Posts Classy Farewell Message To Red Sox

'It was an absolute honor'

Alex Bregman said goodbye to the Boston Red Sox after officially signing with the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs announced Bregman’s arrival on Wednesday, inking the All-Star third baseman to a five-year, $175 million contract. Following the news, Bregman posted a farewell letter to the city of Boston on Instagram.

Bregman thanked the fans, Red Sox players and staff, and manager Alex Cora for his 2025 season with the organization.

“To Boston, it was an honor to play for a city that shares the same passion and love for the game as I do,” Bregman wrote. “You welcomed my family with open arms and we will always be grateful for the support you gave us. To my teammates, coaches, AC, it was an absolute honor.”

Bregman also reshared a post from Cora on his Instagram Stories. There’s a heart emoji with a “Gracias” caption alongside a photo of the player and skipper on the field together.

The two-time World Series champion made a strong impression during his one year in Boston. Bregman batted .273/.360/.462 in 114 games, quickly cementing himself as a valuable clubhouse leader.

The 31-year-old joins a Cubs squad that broke a four-year playoff drought last season. Bregman has quickly assimiliated to the city of Chicago by attending a Blackhawks and a Bulls game.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox pivoted by reportedly signing starting pitcher Ranger Suárez to a five-year deal. They could still explore the market for a third baseman or second baseman to help fill the Bregman void.
