A bettor has placed a $1 million-plus wager on New England
The Super Bowl contdown is underway and betton markets are already booming with major wagers coming in.
As of Tuesday morning, the Patriots are +4.5 on the spread and +195 on the moneyline. They are slight underdogs, but that has not stopped one bettor from placing a $1.1 million wager on them.
“And we’re off and running, money is now starting to flow in on the Super Bowl here at Circa Sports,” wrote Circa Sports’ Jeffrey Benson. “Just took a $1.1 million bet on the Patriots moneyline at +188 to win almost $2.1 million.”
Surely there will be bigger wagers placed on the game in the coming weeks. However, the line will likely not shift the Patriots into a favorite before Feb. 8. Drake Maye and company will once again set out to prove they are an elite team.
The Patriots’ offense did not look good in Denver. However, the elements made it difficult to pass. Maye made his impact felt in the ground game, however. The Seahawks present another elite defense for the Patriots.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos had three of the best defenses in football last season. Seattle is no different. New England has proven it can win in different ways and has just as good a shot of winning the Super Bowl as Seattle.
While the offense faces off against elite defenses, the Patriots’ defense has gone on a heater. Against the Texans, the Patriots’ defense had four interceptions, three sacks and a touchdown. They had six sacks against the Chargers and three sacks against the Broncos’ stellar offensive line.
