According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the New York Mets and Bo Bichette are in agreement on a three-year, $126 million contract.
Bichette was linked closely to the Philadelphia Phillies in recent days, but it appears that the Mets have swooped in big-time and made a bounce-back deal in reaction to losing out on Kyle Tucker on Thursday night.
The Mets will now boast a lineup featuring Bichette, Francisco Lindor, and Juan Soto — a scary situation for opposing pitchers in the National League East.
Bichette hit .311 over 139 games in 2025 while amassing 181 hits, 44 doubles, 18 home runs, and 94 RBIs. His .840 OPS ranked among the American League’s top marks, and he finished second in hits and doubles league-wide. Despite a late-season left knee sprain that sidelined him briefly, Bichette returned for the playoffs, delivering a memorable three-run homer in Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Over seven MLB seasons since debuting in 2019, Bichette has compiled a .294 career average with 904 hits, 111 homers, 437 RBIs, and 60 stolen bases across 748 games. A two-time All-Star (2021, 2023), he led the AL in hits twice early in his career but battled injuries in 2023 and 2024 before rebounding. Defensive challenges have persisted (with negative outs above average in recent years), prompting talks of a shift to second base.
