'Very impressive for such a young kid'
The Boston Bruins picked up a 6-3 home win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday to extend their win streak to two games.
Boston is now 10-1-1 in its last 12 games, as the Bruins have been playing stellar, and a key reason why is the depth players stepping up. On Thursday, Fraser Minten had a goal and two assists, as he and Casey Mittelstadt both had three points.
Following the win, Mittelstadt heaped praise on Minten and his play this season.
“Very impressive for such a young kid to play like that,” Mittelstadt said on Thursday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “(Minten) fit right in. Felt very comfortable.
“I thought we were moving the puck well, and even the last couple of games we’ve had a lot of chances, and maybe they haven’t gone. I think if you get one early, you start feeling good and you go from there.”
Minten now has 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points in 55 games this season with the Bruins. The young forward said he’s building confidence with how he’s playing, and Bruins head coach Marco Sturm is also impressed with his play.
“I’m very, very happy with the way he’s been playing all year long,” Sturm said of Minten. “I put him in different situations from fourth line to pretty much first line, and you could see he can do it all. He definitely has something a lot of players don’t have.”
With the win, Boston improved to 32-20-3 and is holding onto the final Wild Card spot.
The Bruins will now go on the road to play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, in a Stadium Series game.
