Bruins’ TD Garden Lands Surprisingly Low In New NHL Arena Rankings

Too low, no?

In a new article devoted to ranking all NHL arenas, TD Garden was No. 18 in the league according to The Athletic’s James Mirtle. Mirtle’s rankings took into account variables like location, amenities, atmosphere, and affordability.

The top three arenas, in order, were the Bell Centre (Montreal Canadiens), T-Mobile Arena (Vegas Golden Knights), and Benchmark Int. Arena (Tampa Bay Lightning). Canadien Tire Centre (Ottawa Senators) was the last place arena.

“TD Garden came in lower than expected here, especially considering our beat writers ranked it the sixth-best place to watch a game,” Mirtle wrote of the Boston Bruins’ home ice.

“Boston’s unbelievably rowdy crowds contribute to that score, for sure, but the fans ranked the atmosphere as merely middle of the pack in their accounting, perhaps due to the Bruins’ downturn last season. And TD Garden took a hit in affordability, where it ranked fourth-last.”

“Overall, however, this is typically a very fun place to watch an NHL game,” Mirtle added. “Just be careful about wearing the visiting team’s jersey when you do.”

The “fan perspective” element of The Athletic article included quotes from anonymous fans about each arena. When it came to TD Garden, fans talked about the elite atmosphere and high pricing.
