ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported on Wednesday that the Cleveland Cavaliers are open to signing LeBron James when he becomes a free agent following the 2025-26 NBA season.
It would be James’s third stint with the franchise that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2004.
Now in his remarkable 23rd NBA season, LeBron continues to defy expectations at age 41. The 2025-26 campaign began with a setback, as he missed the first several games due to sciatica, marking the first time he sat out opening night in his career.
He has since returned and contributed steadily, helping the Lakers maintain a solid position in the Western Conference standings.
Recent performances show his enduring impact: he delivered 24 points in a win over the Bulls on January 26, nearly notched a historic triple-double in his first back-to-back of the season against the Hawks (31 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds), and surpassed 51,000 career points in a victory over the Raptors.
