Pastrank recorded 900 career points
The Boston Bruins suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Monday on the road.
Boston led 3-2 after the second period, as Pastrnak assisted on all three goals to record 900 career points. However, the Rangers tied it in the third period before winning it in overtime, which put a damper on Pastrnak reaching a milestone.
“Obviously bittersweet,” Pastrnak said on Monday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “It’s always tough to enjoy these kinds of milestones when you don’t get the win.
“But it’s special, obviously. From the first period, I knew I’d be a disher today. I saw the ice well today. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the ‘W.'”
With Boston fighting for a playoff spot, not getting both points is tough, as the Bruins know it got away from them.
“It’s a tough loss,” forward Elis Lindholm said. “I think we kind of stopped playing in the third a bit, let them take over, and obviously that’s not the recipe to win. We have to clean that up.”
Bruins head coach Marco Sturm echoed the words of Lindholm and felt like the team didn’t play well in the third.
“We played our game more in the second period than any other period, and that was the difference,” Sturm said. “We’re going in with a one-goal lead in the third, and we’re going in to finish it. Unfortunately, we didn’t.”
Luckily, the Bruins will get a chance to get back in the win column as Boston will host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.
