Drake Maye Reveals Hilarious Will Campbell Moment After Beating Broncos

Maye's big run clinched New England's spot in the Super Bowl

The New England Patriots grinded their way to another ugly playoff win, as they picked up a 10-7 victory over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. It certainly was not his best outing as a passer, but Drake Maye still managed to do just enough to lead the Pats to victory.

Adverse weather and a stifling Broncos defense limited Maye to just 86 passing yards in this one, but he made up for it with 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground as a runner. Maye’s contributions with his legs were really the only consistent source of offense the team had in this one.

The biggest play from Maye saw him pick up a first down on 3rd & 6 late in the fourth quarter that effectively ended the game. Maye and his teammates were understandably fired up, and he revealed he received a vicious head bump from starting left tackle Will Campbell after this big play.

“Finishing in victory formation, I head bumped Will, and that was probably the hardest head bump of my life after I picked up the first down,” Maye hilariously revealed after the game.

This was a bit of a redemption game for Campbell. After struggling mightily against the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans to begin the postseason, Campbell completely shut down Nik Bonitto, who had been one of the better pass rushers in the league this season.

While Campbell did a good job of protecting Maye, he may have inadvertently given him another bruise to deal with ahead of Super Bowl LX. And considering all the drama surrounding Maye’s injury status currently, that’s probably the last thing he needs right now.
