KP will miss Wednesday's game in Boston
The Boston Celtics had a nice reunion with Jrue Holiday and Robert Williams III on Monday when the Portland Trail Blazers came to town. The Celtics honored Holiday, who helped them win the NBA Finals two years ago, with a tribute video.
Unfortunately, they won’t be able to give Kristaps Porzingis a similar reception when the Atlanta Hawks visit tonight.
Porzingis, another member of the 2024 title team, is still dealing with an Achilles injury and will miss Wednesday’s contest at TD Garden. He hasn’t played since Jan. 7 and is expected to miss at least one more week as of Monday, so he didn’t travel with the Hawks to Boston, according to reporter Bobby Manning.
Similar to last season, it’s been another disappointing, injury-plagued year for Porzingis, who was traded to Atlanta over the summer. The 30-year-old big man has only appeared in 17 of the Hawks’ 48 games this season.
Atlanta will visit again on March 27, so hopefully Porzingis will be healthy by then. He deserves a tribute from the Celtics for helping them win their 18th banner and first since 2008.
In the meantime, the Hawks will try to win their fourth straight game without him and move to within one game of .500. Boston is looking to win the second game of its four-game homestand after beating the Trail Blazers on Monday.
