New York lost one of its draft options
The New York Jets have been on the lookout for a franchise quarterback for quite some time, but that search might have to be put on hold for another year.
New York has the No. 2 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but it may struggle to find its quarterback with that selection. Oregon quarterback Dante Moore announced on Wednesday that he will not be entering the NFL Draft and will be returning to the Ducks for at least one more season.
Many draft analysts ranked Moore as the No. 2 quarterback in the class, behind Fernando Mendoza from Indiana. However, with Moore not entering the NFL, there could be a significant drop-off to the next viable quarterback.
With the Las Vegas Raiders holding the No. 1 pick, they’ll likely select Mendoza. This situation may leave the Jets weighing their options: should they pursue another quarterback, take the best available player or even consider trading down?
The Jets are poised to have five first-round picks over the next two years, with two in this year’s draft and three more lined up for 2027. While it’s not the end of the world if New York can’t snag a quarterback in the first round this season, it has plenty of draft capital for next year’s draft to go after the quarterback it desires.
