'It’s important that he gets the rest that he needs'
The Celtics were without star guard, Jaylen Brown for their matchup against the Kings on Friday night, but that didn’t make a difference.
Boston secured a 112-93 victory, with several players contributing significantly. Head coach Joe Mazzulla praised the players for their hard work on the court, mentioning that Brown’s absence might also have a positive impact on both him and the Celtics.
“It’s important that he gets the rest that he needs,” Mazzulla said on Friday. “It’s important that we grow and develop as a team. Multiple things come out of that. I always like it when some of those guys sit, because they get to see the game from a different perspective, and you kind of get to communicate, ‘What do you see? Where are we at here?’
Guard Payton Pritchard stepped up in a big way, recording 29 points, eight assists and two rebounds in 33 minutes of play.
The Celtics players will need to adapt to playing without Brown, as his hamstring issue may linger throughout the season. Although Brown has only missed four games so far, his hamstring soreness has repeatedly appeared on the injury report this season.
