Chaisson wants to stay in New England
The New England Patriots signed K’Lavon Chaisson in the offseason, and he has turned out to be a great addition to their team.
However, Chaisson will be a free agent after the season ends, and he has set himself up to get paid. During an appearance on “Up & Adams” on Friday, he sent a message to the Patriots front office, letting them know he wants to be back in New England.
“Call the guys and tell them I’m trying to come back,” Chaisson told Kay Adams when asked if he would like his pay day to come from the Patriots.
Chaisson had a career year. He had 7.5 sacks in the regular season, 31 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 18 quarterback hits, two passes defended and two forced fumbles. He started 10 games for the Patriots, and has continued his strong play in the playoffs,
He has three sacks, 11 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, one pass defended and nine quarterback hits in the playoffs. A strong outing in the Super Bowl could set him up for a multi-year deal in the offseason.
Chaisson will have plenty of interest in free agency, but his comments on “Up & Adams” are a clear message to the Patriots front office. He wants to remain with the Patriots and have them be the team that pays him.
The Patriots’ pass rush overall ranks near the bottom of the league in terms of sacks. However, their defense has been great in the playoffs, and Chaisson is a huge reason why. Bringing him back should be a priority for the Patriots, but so should adding another elite pass rusher.
