Marco Sturm ‘Proud’ Of Bruins’ Effort In Lopsided Win Over Oilers

'Everyone is sick of losing'

The Boston Bruins ended 2025 on a high note.

Boston entered Wednesday’s game on a six-game losing streak and was on the road to play the Edmonton Oilers, who are one of the top teams in the NHL. Yet, the Bruins played well from the get-go and cruised to a lopsided 6-2 win to snap their losing streak.

Following the win, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm praised the team’s effort and said he was proud of how the team played.

“Feels really good,” Sturm said on Wednesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “I think everyone is sick of losing.

“I am just proud of the way we played today and the way we came out. I don’t think a lot of people thought we (could) grab two points here tonight, but we did.”

Boston got out to a 2-0 lead and led 4-1 after the second period to cruise to the lopsided road win.

Bruins star goalie Jeremy Swayman, meanwhile, believes this is a win the team can build off of.

“It’s excellent,” Swayman said postgame. “It’s good to get out of that slump and do it the right way. I think we can take a lot out of this game and build a lot of confidence.

“We know what we can do in this league. And consistency is everything – I think we can take this and move forward and really build some momentum.”

With the win, the Bruins improved to 21-18-2 and are two points out of a playoff spot. Boston will return to the ice on Saturday on the road against the Vancouver Canucks.
