'We have to learn from it'
The Boston Bruins suffered a 6-2 blowout loss to the Dallas Stars on the road on Tuesday.
Boston struggled out of the gates as the team trailed 2-0 after the first period. The Stars ended up getting out to a 6-0 lead before Boston scored twice with less than 10 minutes to go in the game.
Following the blowout loss, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm sent a clear message to the team.
“We have to learn from it,” Sturm said on Tuesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “How I see it is those guys (on the Stars), it’s a playoff team. Without even some of the names that are not in the lineup, they’re willing to play that style of game, just grind it out and stick with it. And we didn’t do it, right?
“We were still playing cute right to the end, and you cannot play that way. So, that’s something that we just have to learn from it.”
Although Boston was on a six-game winning streak before the blowout loss, Sturm expected more from his team.
The Bruins are firmly in a playoff push as Boston is 28-20-2 and holding onto the final wild card spot.
Boston will return to the ice on Thursday at home against the Vegas Golden Knights.
