Mason Lohrei’s First Multi-Goal Game Helps Bruins Extend Win Streak To Six

'Put ourselves in a good spot here'

The Boston Bruins are on a roll.

Boston went 5-0-0 on its homestand and looked to extend its win streak to six games. The Bruins struggled out of the gates as the Chicago Blackhawks led 2-0 after the first period, before Boston scored five unanswered to get a 5-2 win on Saturday.

The Bruins were led by defenseman Mason Lohrei, who scored his first career multi-goal game, as he scored Boston’s second and fourth goals. Lohrei’s sister read the lineups in the locker room before the game as part of the team’s siblings trip, which added to the special night.

“Yeah, a lot of fun,” Lohrei said on Saturday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “I live pretty close to here, too, so my whole family is here. A lot of friends made the trip, and obviously siblings trip, too, so a pretty special day. I won’t forget it.”

It was a stellar night from Lohrei and the entire team to extend its win streak to six games.

Lohrei also knows every game is critical as Boston is firmly in a playoff push.

“It’s huge,” Lohrei added. “A lot of other teams are winning games, and we’ve got to stick with it and keep climbing and put ourselves in a good spot here going into the (Olympic) break and then coming back and really making a push and proving to everybody that we’re a playoff team.

“We all know we are. I think it’s just going out there every night and playing 60 minutes of good solid hockey.”

With the win, the Bruins improved to 28-19-2 and are holding onto the top wild card spot. Boston will return to the ice on Tuesday on the road against the Dallas Stars.
