The Patriots listed three players as questionable
The New England Patriots will not have Harold Landry III for the AFC Championship Game, but could be getting some of their other stars back from injury.
Mike Vrabel announced that Mack Hollins, Carlton Davis and Marte Mapu will all be questionable for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. Hollins has been on injured reserve for the last four weeks, but returned to practice this week.
Davis had two interceptions against the Houston Texans, but entered the week in concussion protocol. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, he was not in the red non-contact jersey for Friday’s practice, indicating that he may be ready to play on Saturday. However, he is officially going to be listed as questionable.
Davis has started every game this season after signing a three-year, $54 million deal with the Patriots in the offseason. He had 10 passes defended in the regular season and has had four more passes defended in the playoffs.
Hollins return could be a huge one for the Patriots offense. He was third on the team in receiving yards and receptions before his injury. His size makes him a huge asset in the run game, and he is one of the best deep threats on the team as well.
Mapu’s return is also a significant one for the Patriots. While he is not a starter, he played 120 snaps on defense this season and 255 snaps on special teams. He played nearly 60% of the Patriots’ special teams snaps. He had one interception and 25 tackles in the regular season.
Getting all three players on the field Sunday will be huge for Vrabel and the Patriots. The Denver Broncos will be without Bo Nix, but should not be underestimated.
