Patriots’ Drake Maye Not Spotted At Practice Ahead Of Super Bowl

Maye wasn't seen at practice on Friday

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was not spotted at practice on Friday.

Maye, who suffered a shoulder injury during his club’s victory over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship, was listed as a limited participant on the injury report on Thursday — though he was at least present.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss, CLNS’ Taylor Kyles and MassLive’s Mark Daniels were among those to report the sophomore signal-caller wasn’t even seen during the media access portion on Friday.

I don’t have to be the one to tell you that’s at least slightly concerning…

Maye admitted there’s reason for interest in his health during his first media availability of the week, but also said he’d be good to play.

Maye hasn’t publicly favored his arm since supposedly suffering the injury in the AFC Championship, but raising your arms above your head is different than throwing the ball in the Super Bowl. New England’s decision to keep him from even warming up in front of cameras was interesting, but keeping him from even being seen is a much bigger cause for concern.

The Patriots’ next practices will be at Stanford University, as they’re scheduled to depart for Super Bowl LX on Sunday.

New England’s next injury report will be released around 5 p.m. ET on Friday.
