Stroud threw four first-half interceptions in New England's playoff win
C.J. Stroud was rattled.
And the Patriots knew what likely would happen should they put pressure on the Texans third-year quarterback, New England defensive tackle Milton Williams said.
“If he’s kept clean, he can make any throw any quarterback can make,” Williams said after New England’s 28-16 victory at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. “But under pressure, he’ll put the ball in harm’s way. We just tried to take advantage of it.”
The Patriots will travel to the Denver Broncos for the AFC Championship Game on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
Stroud threw four first-half interceptions, and was lucky there wasn’t more. The Offensive Rookie of the Year two seasons ago finished with a quarterback rating of 21.1 after he completed 20 of his 47 passes for 212 yards with one touchdown and four interception.
“Just being where we’re supposed to be, executing at a high level,” Williams responded when asked how the Patriots were able to do it to Stroud. “We have a bunch of dogs that are hungry, and we went out there and showed it today.”
