Patriots QB Drake Maye Makes Feelings Clear On Texans Defense

'They're relentless'

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye knows the Houston Texans’ defense will be a tough challenge for him and the offense.

The Patriots are set to host the Texans in the divisional round on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET in an intriguing game. Houston is led by its defense, which allowed just 17.35 points per game and 277.23 yards, which ranked second and first in the NFL, respectively.

Ahead of Maye’s second playoff game against the Texans, he had plenty of praise for the defense. However, the Patriots quarterback is confident in himself and the offense that they will be able to have success.

“They fly around, they’re relentless,” Maye said on Wednesday. “They’re great up front, they’re great in the back end, they’ve got great linebackers. They’re great all around. They have great coaching. So, we’ve got our hands full, and we know it’s going to be a tough game. We’ve got to play the game the right way, and we’ve got great players all around.

“Man, all the hype is fulfilling and deserving from what I’ve seen on film. So, we’ve got to be able to stay ahead of the chains, and I know we’ve got a tough task, but we’re going to have our hands full. Play complimentary football, and from there, just try to find ways to pick up first downs and score some points.”

In his first career NFL playoff game, Maye was 17-of-29 for 268 yards, a touchdown, and an interception as he had mixed results.

Yet, if New England is going to advance to the AFC Championship Game, Maye will need to be on his A-game.
