Law's new top-100 prospect rankings just dropped.
A new, top-100 MLB prospect list was just released by The Athletic’s Keith Law, and four Red Sox featured on Law’s list: Franklin Arias at No. 12, Payton Tolle at No. 40, Kyson Witherspoon at No. 62, and Connelly Early at No. 64.
Law also had high praise for Arias, saying that if he were a college sophomore right now, we’d be discussing Arias as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
Arias, a promising shortstop, signed as an international free agent from Venezuela on January 15, 2023, for $525,000. Known initially for his elite defensive skills, including a strong arm and exceptional range, Arias quickly advanced through the minors after debuting in the Dominican Summer League. His high baseball IQ and base-stealing ability added to his profile as a well-rounded talent.
In 2025, Arias broke out offensively at High-A Greenville before a promotion to Double-A Portland in late summer. Across the season, he batted .278 with 27 doubles, eight home runs, 66 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases, demonstrating improved plate discipline and contact skills. He notched his first Double-A home run in September.
